"Am I the only one who gets glue everywhere when gluing a corsage? I mean, ALL over the place. I prefer the paper plate and dip method, but recently got the bottle of oasis glue that comes with an empty bottle hoping I could manage the direct application method. It was a complete mess. Is there a trick I'm missing? The tube I try to get just a touch and before I know it the dang tube is overflowing. Now with this new bottle the glue starts spilling out the side. I hope no one overheard the profanities spewing out of my mouth as I made 15 corsages for this weekends wedding. I resorted to unscrewing the metal bottle and pouring it on the plate. I feel like I've got to be missing something, they couldn't have designed them to be like that, right? All that being said, I love gluing about a billion times more than wiring and taping corsages. I have nightmares of needing to make hundreds of them them and all I have is wire and tape. *shudder*"

"I also do what posh posey does, I actually don't give out any prices per piece...ever! I tell them how many flowers I'm going to need and their price and then add in a labor charge depending on how many hours it's going to take me. They can't shop around, plus, they can see more value in what I offer. No one realizes how much work it takes to arrange flowers...why would they? I find this way is more transparent and helps them see how I operate. I know it can be frustrating when brides are shopping around. I've wasted hours in consultations and emails! But if you put yourself in their shoes, it's understandable. They want to make sure they get the most bang for their buck and they're doing that the best way they know how. "

"I also love purple and blue together, but unfortunately I couldn't convince this bride that hunts of purple help the pop factor. Everything in this wedding is blue. Blue flowers, blue dresses, blue accents. I'll post photos when I get them! Thanks for all the help!"

"I find some roses reflex better than others. I've had great results with voodoo and vendela roses, not so much with others. I also find that it's easier when the rose is a bit more mature and not freshly processed. Using both hands to be sure you're gentle with the roses is Important as well. I stick a lone rose in a vase and reflex with both hands before designing. "

Luanne’s Birthday

My sweet Aunt Luanne got in a horrible car accident Christmas morning on her way to church.  Her new, month old car was totaled.  She had just gotten surgery on her neck, and this accident aggrivated the pain.  To make matters worse, all of the pharmacies were closed and the hospital couldn’t fill her perscription for pain medication.  We normally all go over to her house for Christmas dinner, play games and have fun until the early morning.  She always looks forward to it.  This year all the food had to be packed up and brought over to my moms house.  It was still fun, but I know Luanne looks forawrd to having it at her house every year.

Her birthday is New Years Eve.  Awesome, right?  Em, not so much.  Her thunder is always stolen and people are always busy on her birthday.  This year I thought I’d do something extra special for her birthday to try to cheer her up.  This is what I came up with:  Motzart Callas, Veri-flora certified orange finesse roses, mini green cymbidium orchids, red freesia, and aspidistra.
