Flower Ice Cubes- #FlowerCocktailHour

Create Flower Ice CubesThe Flower Stand- By J SchwankeWe have a tradition here at uBloom Worldwide HQ...Every day at 5pm... we have #flowercocktailhourIt's a simple concept... I make a flower arrangement... and we 'test' a NEWFlower Cocktail recipe... if it includes flowers, floral elixer, or flower based ingredients ... it's all the better! It's not always about a NEW Recipe either... sometimes the day is fitting of an old favorite... In fact we like #FlowerCocktailHour so much... that we're featuring it as a segment in our Pilot series- LIFE IN BLOOM...More on that later...You'll start seeing #FlowerCocktailHour Recipes turning up in the blog at the end of October... as we start sharing our favorites...Excited?? You know we are...The concept behind #FlowerCocktailHour is simple... it's cocktails (or Mocktails if you wish) that have some connection to flowers...It can be as simple as a Flower Garnish... or Flower Name... or a pretty Flower Arrangement that decorates a table... The concept started long ago with my Grandpa Carnation Joe and His Lily (My Grandma)... they would gather each day at 5pm to share their stories from the day... and visit... while they enjoyed each others company and (of course) a cocktail...  thus #FlowerCocktailHour was born...So today- Kelly and I (and whomever wants to join us) set down... and enjoy flowers, cocktails and stories from the day... it's the perfect way to unwind...and no matter where we are... #FlowerCocktailHour can follow us...Today's Blog is about Flower Ice Cubes... the perfect ingredient to #FlowerCocktailHour (follow us on Instagram.com/uBloom to see pics from #flowercocktailhour ) ... and easy to make!Mix up Amazing Flower-filled Summer concoctions... using edible flowers...Trim flowers off stem and place in an ice cube tray... fill the compartments with DISTILLED Water (it makes CLEAR Cubes and you can see the flowers better)...So the water is just touching the flower- make sure the flower is coming in contact with the water... then freeze...  Wait about 2 hours... then bring out the tray and QUICKLY Fill the remaining space with DISTILLED water and return immediately to the freezer.. and complete the process...The Frozen water holds the flower in place and allows the flower to be encased in the ice... it's important to do it as a 2 step process... for the best results! Always use- Edible- Organic Flowers- Ideal flowers areChamomille, Roses, Mint, Chive Blossoms, Nasturtium, Viola, Carnations, Dianthus... to name a few!Take Pictures... and post your Ice Cubes- Flower Cocktails or Inspirations with the #FlowerCocktailHour ... so we can see them!Do you Love Flowers?
