Happy Birthday Carnation Joe Green!

One of my Favorite Photos of Carnation Joe and his Lily! The Flower Stand- By J SchwankeIn 1900... Thanksgiving Day fell on November 29! On that day in history... my great grandmother gave birth to her second son... Joseph Nathaniel Green...He was born in the house I grew up in... in the back bedroom... (Today that room is the kitchen)...Today November 29-  would have been my Grandpa's(Carnation Joe Green) 116 Birthday...He celebrated Every Thanksgiving of his life... seated at the dining room table (Except for the first one... hehehe)He helped start me on the Road to a Life Filled with FLOWERS...He would come over for breakfast each morning... and have coffee (in the room he was born in... our kitchen)...And he would frequently take me to... and pick me up from... school! We had great talks in the car... and he taught me so much about life...Today... I'm actually at P Allen Smith's Moss Mountain Farm... filming a segment about my favorite flower... The RED Carnation! - the universe at work I'm sure!My Grandpa was named Carnation Joe Green because he wore a Red Carnation everyday... He felt he was a florist 24 hours a day... because not only did he wear that red carnation all day... he slept with his Lily at night...My Grandma was named Lily... I happen to be born on her birthday... another fun flower fact! hehehe! My Grandparents were a Whole Lot of FUN!!! I miss them... but I'm confident they are watching ... EVERYTHING!J takes a Stand...
