 In fact, this is preferable. You can cut the appropriate amount of foam for your container from a dry brick of foam, then float soak that piece. Fresh foam should never be allowed to dry out and then be re-soaked. Bacteria can form in the unused foam and the foam will not be properly soaked the second time.
