Is there a good Rose Stripper? - Flowers 101
Several commercial varieties are available in a multitude of designs, styles and colors. These products are used to strip the thorns and foliage off of rose stems below the water line. The best ones are soft and made of plastic- so they only remove the leaves and ends of the thorns. Another option is using an extremely sharp knife- or nail clippers- and just delicately removing the end of the thorns... some types are too aggressive and damage, mar or abrade the stem structure. Any damage done to the actual skin of the stem can cause drooping of the flowers.
