What is fresh flower foam?- Flowers 101

Fresh flower foam was created many years ago as a means of allowing flowers to be arranged into specific shapes or designs. The foam material was designed to hold water and distribute the water to the flower stem while maintaining a rigid enough consistency to allow stems to be inserted in to it. The idea behind floral foam was to allow flowers to be arranged more compactly and securely so that they might be transported. The advent of flower foam opened up an entirely new form of flower design. Flowers would no longer have to be arranged in water loosely. They could be designed more carefully and artistically.
