Never return an Empty Dish! Good Advice!
I lived in Atlanta for a couple of years... during the Olympics... and I worked at Wholesale Florist called the Heeney Company...One of the great things about the Heeney Company were the people that I worked with... I had a friend Miss Betty... She was amazing... she was like a mother to so many of us that worked there... and she was also an amazing cook...She would make incredible Fried Chicken... or Okra... or Banana Pudding... the kind of comfort food that just made you feel good all over... and when I was lucky... Miss Betty would bring me some food... just because...Miss Betty was just like that... a wonderful friend that loved flowers, friends and (thankfully) she loved to share what she cooked!!One time Miss Betty brought me a care package... it was a covered dish with Chicken, Okra and Banana Pudding... I was so grateful... and it was DELICIOUS... You can just imagine... soooo good!I took the care package home and enjoyed every last crumb... and washed the covered dish and returned it the next day to my friend...That's what we did in Nebraska...Then it was time for school... I mean... Time for my Friend... to school me a bit about "Southern Hospitality"... Miss Betty took the covered dish from me... and said... in her sweet southern accent..."Darlin'... When someone brings you somethin' special to eat...You NEVER send back an Empty dish!".... You fill it back up with somethin' sweet BEFORE you bring it back"....Schooled... hehehe! I took that "schooling" to heart... and there isn't anything sweeter than Flowers...From then on... whenever Miss Betty would bring me food... I would fill up the dish with Flowers... before I brought it back to her...She loved the flowers... and come to think of it... I started to get a lot more 'treats' from Miss Betty... yummmmmmm!Fast forward to today... My Mother-in-Law makes the best pies... if you follow me on Facebook - you'll see me post pictures of these amazing pies... from scratch and SUPER DELICIOUS!My Mother-in-law made us an amazing Pie...again today...So I filled the pie plate full of 'denim star' spray roses from Eufloria flowers... before I return it...
