Posies in Peppers- Perfect!
Looking for an EASY (and Organic)...container for your flowers?Don't discount the garden... it's Pepper Season here in Michigan... they are all over the farmer's market... Nice BIG Fat Juicy ones... and they come in a wide variety of colors too...My mentor and friend Haskell Eargle was the first designer to inspire me to use vegetables as containers (or in my arrangements)... Thanks Hackie!!!Peppers work really well... it's a simple process and it makes a fun centerpiece for a dinner party or small get together... Not to mention that they can be super Party Favors...Or Imagine bringing one as a hostess gift ... talk about starting the conversation... Wheeeeee!Choose a Nice Big Pepper--- and it's a good idea to make sure it sits nicely on the table... (more about that later)...Cut an Hole into a Pepper... scoop out the sides a bit... but don't damage the "shell"... as you want it to remain water tight...You can fill the inside of the pepper with water or add a small piece of saturated Flower Foam...Then simply arrange your Flowers...you can cut flowers and foliage from the garden... or pick up a bunch of flowers at your local flower seller... (one bunch will fill about 3-5 Peppers... )Tuck a little bit of ribbon into the arrangement using a stick... (it's a great way to add a splash of color)...Now back to positioning the Pepper...If the Pepper won't stand on it's own... Lay on it's side... (it's a great way to make a slightly larger arrangement too)...Or Stand it up in a Clay Pot full of Sand or Gravel... you can use colored gravel to bring out a color theme... or use river rocks or pea gravel...Be sure to coat the entire arrangement with Chrysal Professional Glory.. it will help the pepper and the flowers stay fresh longer!Do you Love Flowers?
