Today’s cocktail is a classic- with a decidedly floral ingredient- that may have been the first PURPLE colored Liquor: Creme de Violette- let’s make the Aviation Cocktail!
Violette Aviation Cocktail
Ingredients:
2 oz of Gin- I use a floral infused Gin – Midsummers Night Gin from Hendricks- or you can choose your favorite!
1 oz Maraschino Liquor
1 oz Creme de Violette Liquor
Squeeze in the juice of 1/2 of a lemon

The Violette Aviation Cocktail is Purple with a lemon/violet fragrance and taste… it’s Delicious!
Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice… shake well- and pour into a chilled martini glass. I like to fill my Martini glass with ice- and then fill with water- and let stand for a few minutes- then pour out the contents before filling with my cocktail shaker contents…
Garnish with fresh lemon peel- and of course… a Violet Blossom-
I grow Pansies and Voila in the garden organically just for garnish and edible flowers- it’s an easy flower to grow and you can plant them early and late in the growing season because they are cool crops- which will provide additional edible flowers for your spring and fall recipes. If you are unable to grow your own edible flowers- check with your local grocer – as edible flowers are readily available in most markets… or can be ordered for you!
Enjoy!
