Behind the Bloom - Introducing Eric Santoli- Water Colour Artist

J and Flower Friend Eric Santoli- discuss their passions for Flowers- and Water Colour Artistry in this Week’s Behind the Bloom Video on uBloom!

Today on this week’s Web-Exclusive Behind the Bloom Video I’d like to introduce you to my Friend Eric Santoli – a Water Colour Artist- that you will be meeting in Season 7 of J Schwanke’s Life in Bloom….Episode 702- Painting with Flowers.  Eric is from New Jersey- and has enjoyed several artist in residence associations in gardens around the world- including one at Monet’s Garden in Giverny, France. You’ll see some of Eric’s Photos of his Internship at Monet’s Garden in the Life in Bloom Segment- it’s Fascinating! Eric is a wonderful guy- and it was a treat to have him visit me in the garden to help teach me some of his favorite water colour tips and techniques. Watch this week’s Video with Eric Santoli here!

Eric shares some of his favorite tips, tricks and techniques for budding water colour artists- in Episode 702- Flowers and Painting on J Schwanke’s Life in Bloom- coming in April 2025!

Eric is one of only a few guests I have had on the show- that I had not had the opportunity to meet in person- until they appeared on the show. True Story…Eric wrote an incredible letter to me- sharing his story- and his art work- and experience… and we had a mutual idea- to have him come be a guest on our Painting and Flowers Show- (this show also includes my Visit to the Bob Ross Experience- where I was honored to translate an Original Bob Ross Painting- “A Trace of Spring” created on Season 26 -Episode 5). I’m so honored to say - Eric and I have become good friends- and he was a Terrific Guest- and we enjoyed filming with him!

Eric came completely equipped for creating water colour paintings with J — on location in the Life in Bloom Garden… a fun time was had by all!

I’ve always been fascinated with water colour- and I’ve dabbled a bit- but never had any formal training- nor the opportunity to learn from an accomplished Artist like Eric! Our discussions, emails and mutual passion for Flowers and Water Colours were a perfect fit… plus I wanted to be able to introduce him, his art and his talent – to everyone on “Life in Bloom”. You can learn more about Eric on his website- www.ericstantoli.com – and follow him on https://www.instagram.com/ericenpleinair/ -
It’s so refreshing to see Eric’s passion for Art- and especially - his desire to teach other people to paint- that is something that Eric and Bob Ross have in common- Encouraging others to Paint. It’s a special Gift!

So this past summer- on a bright sunshine soaked day- Eric traveled from New Jersey to Grand Rapids MI- we painted in the Garden- and Grace and Nic Boersma - (*my Niece and her wonderful Husband) even took the time to give Eric a taste of Grand Rapids- on this one day whirlwind trip. Thank you Grace and Nic- for taking good care of Eric- while we continued filming Season 7…

Eric taught J the value of “VALUE” when it comes to water colour painting with Flowers… on his visit to the Life in Bloom Garden!

It was incredible having Eric on the show- and he’s so charming- as well as being particularly patient and kind to his students (that is ME… in Episode 702! Be sure to tune in! ) … I’m excited for you to meet him- in this video- as well as in Episode 702- Painting and Flowers – of J Schwanke’s Life in Bloom on Public Television, PBS app, and PBS Passport starting in April 2025- and Nationally on Create TV- starting in August, 2025.
