Window Sill Herb Garden- #FlowerCraft

Window Sill Herb Garden- #FlowerCraft

I love fresh Herbs for cooking- and while I have a pretty extensive Herb garden in the yard... some people may be more space challenged - or want to have fresh Herbs- ready right in the kitchen. A window sill Herb garden is just the ticket- and it gives us an opportunity to re-purpose or recycle containers... and customize your Herb  selection to your favorites.Re-purpose Fruit Jars with Graphite überMatte Paint- from Design Master- and create your own handy and beautiful Window Sill Herb Garden! I used 4 canning jars for this project- and they were re-purposed- I had Dilly Beans in one- and My Mom's Secret Chili Sauce in another... I keep a big selection of Ball Jars at my disposal- because I also love them for a quick flower arrangement- and they are the perfect size for giving away, sharing with friends- or for a small space where I want flowers- NOW!Because I store them in the garage- sometimes the rings and lids can get a bit rusty or dingy... so let's start with the lids... I like to have the Bright Silver Ring- on the jar- I think it dresses it up... and so I sprayed the rings - with Super Silver® from Design Master- it's a Special Metallic Paint- that is available at craft stores and wholesale floral supply companies... and they make all different colors- so if you're not the Silver Person- you can do 14k or 24k Gold- (ooo lala) or Champagne Gold- or even Colors- the metallic paints from Design Master- are quick drying and they cover completely- so they are the BEST!When I want color- I choose their üBerMatte® Colors- they also are quick drying and cover completely - and I used the Graphite üBerMatte® for the jars... you'll notice in this segment- I set them upside down- on a turntable- to insure I don't get paint inside the jar... and then it just takes one or two coats and you're ready to go...üBerMatte® comes in a wide variety of colors- so if you want to do other colors you can experiment. Snap a pic of your finished projects- and send them to me at J@ubloom.com and we'll share them in future blogs or maybe even on the show.Once dry- I assemble the jars- and then add about 1-2 inches of Rocks to the bottom of the jar... then a bit of soil and plant my Herbs. I love Basil so that's a must- I also include Thyme- another personal favorite.... Lavender is a nice touch because you cook with it- add it to cocktails- but having the Lavender fragrance around is helpful in stress relief- and reducing depression and enhancing sleep.  I also think it's fun to include Rosemary- for this memory assistance... and I love to cook with Rosemary.Create your own Herb Selection and personalize the jars with a Craft Market to make it even more Fun!I used a White Chalk Marker- from the craft store to write the varieties on the jars... it looks great on the Chalkboard colored Jars... but you could also write a message - Like I love you- or draw hearts or smile faces... there's no limit- it's a great way to make this project personal! If you want more COLOR Inspiration visit my friends at Design Master- and check out their website DMColor.com for lots of inspiring projects!  Watch J create this project in Episode 206 - The Garden Contained- on Life in Bloom Here!
