"Dirt Cake" Dessert- in Clay Pots- Recipe in Bloom
"Dirt Cake" in Clay Pots- Dessert!
This dessert is fun- and it looks like real dirt- add to that- the fun of serving it in clay pots- with a blooming piece of mint- or flower. It's a great way to get people talking and you can see- who will be the first to eat the "Dirt Cake"... heheh!Ingredients:Chocolate Cookie WafersChocolate Graham CrackersInstant Chocolate PuddingFresh Mint Stems with BlossomsClay Pots (clean and washed)Recipe:Watch J create this recipe - in Episode 207- Thinking outside the Vase- of Life in Bloom Here! Clean and wash (Sterilize) Clay Pots- I Purchased NEW ones a the craft store and ran them through the dishwasher- EASY!Place a chocolate wafer into the bottom of the pots to cover the hole- so the pudding won't run out...I purchased organic Chocolate filled cookies (like Oreos- at the grocery store)... they fit right into the bottom of the pot very snuggly!I mixed up the Instant Chocolate Pudding per the directions on the back... the pudding gets solid very quickly so you'll want to work quickly- or if you're really ambitious - you can cook up a batch of home-made pudding- I'll bet that would be even more excellent... you decide!Fill the Pots up about 2/3 of the way- you have to leave room for the "DIRT" topping...Crush up Chocolate Graham Crackers. I placed them between two layers of parchment paper and rolled them with a rolling pin... It's really surprising how these crushed up Chocolate Graham Crackers - look like dirt... WOW!Pour a layer of the "DIRT" over the top of the pudding... and you're almost done... Place the pots into the refrigerator to cool down... and you'll add the flowers - just before serving...I have fresh mint in the garden- and it's organic- because I watch over it... and they have wonderful little blooms- so I cut enough stems and just tucked them into the "dirt" before serving- you could also use a flower- a rose, daisy or any other organic flower from the garden...You can also purchase organic flowers at the grocery store- those could be used as well- it's fun way to set up a little garden on the table and have it be edible as well! Enjoy!
